Ueno Zoo is another must-visit, offering close encounters with panda bears. The city’s cleanliness and safety add to its appeal.
Transitioning to the parks, toddlers can feed the fish at Shinjuku Gyoen. My toddler couldn’t stop giggling while feeding the koi fish.

Travel tip: Look for hotels offering kids’ clubs! The day I first saw my toddler attempt to build a sandcastle is etched in my memory; he ended up having more sand on himself than on the castle.

Speaking of bikes, our toddler loved riding in the front basket, pretending to steer.

The city’s beaches, with their clear waters, are perfect for sand play. The Barcelona Aquarium is sure to captivate with its marine life. We discovered a gem at the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc—our little one was mesmerized by the light and water show.

My favorite memory is our unexpected encounter with a raccoon, which our toddler mistook for a giant stuffed animal!

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden offers plenty of open space for little legs to run. Beaches like Camps Bay are a delight. I remember our first trip to the Boulders Beach to see penguins; our toddler sat down and tried to communicate with them in his own baby language.
